I was commissioned to illustrate the key art for the 2020-21 LMU Bellarmine Forum, “Building Transformative Justice Where We Stand.” The LMU Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts organized this series of workshops, public events, and lectures to facilitate a deeper understanding of theories of justice to address issues of violent policing and incarceration in the United States.
My illustration pays homage to Jacob Lawrence's Sidewalk Drawings (1943), which I’ve interpreted as a representation of public art as a vehicle for community discourse and transformation.
